Is Your Fragrance Legit?

Good morning fragrance community! I hope you guys are all having a flawless weekend. In today´s post, I'm bringing a different type yet very useful content. How to check if your fragrance is legit or not. Keep in mind that the counterfeit business in the fragrance world is a real thing and my main advice for anyone who is reading this, is to avoid grey markets, some discounters and private sellers in general (especially if you are planning to acquire an expensive fragrance). 

The first thing that I realized when I start this amazing hobby was this: retail prices suck! Since the majority of us can´t afford to have a decent collection at retail price, most of us tend to look for alternatives like discounters available online. Some of them are trusted like Notino and FragranceX, others can be a little bit shadier.

Well, if you are like me, every time I buy a fragrance online, my mind just fills with doubt! "Did I get the real thing?". Obvious tips aside, the most secure way to guarantee the authenticity of your recently bought fragrance is to check the batch code. Every fragrance has its own batch code. The batch code can be used as a "DNA test" and it can be found, most of the time, in the bottom of your box and/or in the bottom of your fragrance bottle. 

That being said, I'm going to show you how to check the batch code of your fragrance. In this example, Ím going to use one of my favorite cheap dumb reaches of all time: Zara 9.0. I always buy this fragrance in official Zara stores, which makes this fragrance perfect to test.

Checking your batch code

1 step: Go to checkfresh.com

This is a website well know by the community. It´s free and easy to use.

2 step: Select the fragrance brand

In my case, it´s Zara

3 step: Insert the batch code of your fragrance

In my situation, the batch code is a 5 digit number and can be found at the bottom of the bottle.

Final step: Check the info provided by the website!
